June 4th Day of Prayer & Fasting for World Evangelization

June 4, 2006 is Pentecost Sunday and the day that the IMB designates as Day of Prayer & Fasting for World Evangelization.

This year's theme is "Loving the Peoples of Egypt." The Scripture is "The LORD Almighty will bless them, saying, 'Blessed be Egypt my people.'" Isaiah 19:25 (NIV)

From Genesis to Revelation, ancient Egypt is mentioned more than 600 times in the Bible. When He was young, Jesus and His parents even called it home. Egypt still matters to God.

Plan now to pray for the millions who live in modern Egypt!

* Most Egyptians are Muslim, but Egypt also is home to more than 8 million Egyptian Copts, the largest Orthodox Christian minority in the Middle East.

* Most of Egypt's people are Egyptian Arabs, but significant minorities include the Bedouin, Berbers, Beja, Nubians and Domari Gypsies.

* Cairo, where 20 million people live, is the center for Islamic learning for the Middle East.

The FREE video "Blessed be Egypt: From Desert to Delta" and other helpful resources are available on the resource page at www.imb.org and are useful in guiding your understanding of Egypt and the lostness of her people.
